Choose your boat style first

Small, low-noise boats are best for wildlife and privacy. Larger shared boats can be practical but reduce flexibility and often dictate your pace. For premium travellers, private departures at dawn or late afternoon offer the best light and least disturbance.

Pick a base by mood

Some bases are social and convenient; others are remote and restorative. Decide whether you want curated seclusion, village texture, or easier logistics, then match your base accordingly. One wrong base can make even good excursions feel rushed. Our destination context page is here: Danube Delta region.

How many nights?

Three nights is usually the minimum for a meaningful Delta stay. Two nights works only with perfect timing. Four nights gives room for weather shifts and different channel types.

Pairing the Delta with other regions

Combine the Delta with Bucharest or one additional region only. Adding too many transitions weakens the experience. If you want mountain and Delta in one trip, target 10+ days and use planned private transfers.
